Business & Startup Accelerator

This hands-on, project-based class will introduce students to the essentials of launching a startup using the Lean Startup Methodology, an agile, scientific approach to streamlining business development. Students will engage in collaborative brainstorming sessions to stimulate out-of-the-box thinking as they take their first steps in developing a business idea aimed at solving a real-world global problem with a focus on sustainability and global citizenship.

Working in groups, students will build a Business Model Canvas based on data gathered from Customer Discovery interviews, ensuring that their business idea meets an existing market need. This process will help them develop a strong business value proposition, identify their target customers, and achieve product-market fit. They will also learn business fundamentals, such as revenue and cost accounting, customer acquisition and retention, and the key components of running a successful business, including essential activities, resources, and partnerships.

Throughout the course, students will participate in team presentations and discussions, gaining valuable practice in communication and leadership. The course will culminate in a final presentation where each group will showcase their innovative business plan, empowered with the skills and entrepreneurial mindset needed to transform creative ideas into sustainable business models.
