University Counseling for Students Abroad

US University Admission Program

This course is designed specifically for high-achieving students from Latin America and explores the college admissions process, with an emphasis on current issues confronting students about the application and admissions criteria for various types of universities.  Class topics include academic overview and course selection strategies, application and essay overview, as well as extra-curricular recommendations. Students gain an understanding of the resources available to them throughout the college admissions process including SAT material, financial aid information, websites, third-party organizations, etc.  At the end of the course, students will have a better grasp of the requirements and process to get into their dream university. 

For students grade 9 - 12.

Devery Doran

Devery holds a BA from Harvard and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.

Devery has served as a Senior Admissions Officer at Harvard's Undergraduate Admissions Office and as an Application Reader for The University of California, Berkeley's, Undergraduate Admissions Office

Devery helped found The Princeton Review’s College Counseling department and has advised hundreds of hopeful students in her capacity as an independent counselor, and they have gone on to gain admission to the likes of Harvard, Stanford, University of Texas, University of Michigan, and many more.

Devery recently returned to the Princeton Review to lead admissions counseling for
international partners and students. She was formerly the VP of College Counseling at the Princeton Review where she led the creation of the undergraduate admissions counseling program. She also collaborated with the Princeton Review’s International team to create the hybrid coach/counselor model for international partners.
She has extensive selective college admissions experience having served as the Senior
Admissions Officer at Harvard University’s Undergraduate Admissions Office and as an
Application Reader for University of California, Berkeley’s Undergraduate Admissions Office.

Devery was the Director of Harvard’s Summer Institute of College Admissions, the Co-Directorof Harvard Financial Aid Initiative (HFAI), and also served on the national scholarship selection committee for The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation. Devery has successfully advised hundreds of students as both an independent counselor and as the Associate Director of College Counseling for The College Preparatory School in California.

Devery received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University, her Masters of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin, and has completed coursework in Higher Education Administration from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education.
