Innovating for Change and Impact in Business

Healthcare and business are at the intersection of many of the world’s most daunting problems and require global citizenship. In this class, students learned how to think like the CEO through the lens of a healthcare company and work through problems they face on a day-to-day basis. Furthermore, these skills are applicable to any field, subject, or project providing students a well-rounded experience with skills they can use anywhere. The art of problem-solving requires students to determine the basis of a problem, critically think, and create sustainable, diverse, and wide-encompassing solutions that are socially responsible. The goal of this class is to teach students how to lead the companies of the future and to enhance their skills to do so. The class will be split into two major themes. The first will be case-study-based learning, where students work through real problems faced by healthcare CEOs today while practicing their teamwork and communication skills. The second will be focused on using and pairing these new skills with analytical skills to develop and pitch an assortment of the major healthcare companies’ stocks. Students will also present their business plan to the class, where they will illustrate an aptitude for soft skills, public speaking, leadership, and most importantly knowledge of the business that they will be representing.
