Honors Academies India 2024

PROGRAM INFORMATION

  1. The Honors Academies program in India is a 5-day intensive course offered through Eduexplora, with Instructors affiliated to Stanford, UCLA, UC Berkeley, Yale and other top-ranked US Universities. These courses are intended for students from grades 8-11 US system who are academically talented, with high motivation for learning, and interested in deepening their knowledge in a specific course subject. These courses present advanced topics and instructional styles typically found in these Universities.

TUITION FEE & REGISTRATION 

  • Program Tuition : USD 500

No refunds will be issued unless the program is cancelled by Eduexplora.

Registration Process:

In the online registration form, students are required to select the city and time slot of their preference.

Time Options

In both locations, students may choose their preferred time slot:

Time Slot A: 9:00 am – 12:30 pm (includes 30 min break)

Time Slot B: 1:30 pm – 5:00 pm (includes 30 min break).

Slots will be available for each time slot and location until spots are filled or May 1, 2024, whatever comes first.

 Students must be in grades 8 -11 to be elegible to enroll. Students will be grouped according to grade level.

Courses will not have a final grade.

Certificate of Completion from Eduexplora and Course Outline and Student Evaluation Letter signed by the instructor will be provided.

Vaccination Requirements

All students must comply with vaccination requirements and be fully vaccinated for Covid-19.

If they test positive before or during the program, they will not be allowed to attend class and no refunds will be issued.  

In regards to students medical information, parents will be required to provide all relevant information regarding the student´s emotional and physical well-being and to disclose any medical, psychological, or emotional conditions, including medications, for the duration of the program. The disclosure is essential for Eduexplora to make necessary arrangements and ensure the student´s successful experience. Failure to provide important medical details, including counseling history or behavior modification medication use in the past 24 months, may result in dismissal from the program. If terminated, the student will be sent home, and the parent or guardian will be notified accordingly.

Health information will be requested before the program starts.

Transportation to and from the program location is not included.

*Honors Academies Sessions courses and programs are subject to change, including, but not limited to program dates, location, schedules, and mode of delivery, by action of Eduexplora or by local partner. Eduexplora reserves the right to cancel the program if minimum enrollment is not met. In this case refunds will be made to students that provided payment. 

Eduexplora is independent of UC Berkeley, Stanford, UCLA and Yale University, their faculty, and their admissions office. Eduexplora Programs are operated independently of the Universities and is not sponsored or endorsed by the Universities. The views expressed in connection with the program are not the official positions, statements of advice nor opinions of the Universities and should not be viewed as an endorsement by Yale, Stanford, or UC Berkeley of any such views or statements.

A certificate by Eduexplora will be issued for each program. Any changes in dates, application deadlines and results will be informed by email. Third party organizers may be used in conjunction with Eduexplora for program delivery.

 All applicants and their legal guardians accept Terms & Conditions the moment the student applies.  Eduexplora reserves the right to change the Terms & Conditions at any time by providing notice via email. Continuation in the program shall evidence the student and the parent’s consent to such changes.

These Terms and Conditions are incorporated by reference into the Hold Harmless Agreement.  Applying to the programs as well as acceptance and execution of the Hold Harmless Agreement indicates your consent to these Terms and Conditions. 

CODE OF CONDUCT & PARTICIPANT RULES

SAFETY

  • Alcohol, Drugs, and Tobacco: Participants shall not use, possess, or distribute alcohol, drugs, and tobacco, with the exception of prescription and over the counter medications approved for use by the participant’s parent or guardian. All prescription medications must be in their original, labeled packaging. Participation in an incident involving alcohol, drugs, or tobacco is cause for immediate dismissal, including possible arrest and/or criminal prosecution, even if the participant did not consume or intend to consume these substances.
  • Safety Equipment and Fire Hazards: Participants must not tamper with any safety equipment, including, but not limited to, fire alarms, fire extinguishers, and smoke detectors.
  • Lanyards: Participants will be given program lanyards and they are expected to wear their lanyards around their necks at all times. Swinging or twirling of lanyards is not allowed because this behavior may lead to injury.
  • Pranks: Participants are not allowed to instigate or participate in pranks targeted toward other program participants, staff, or participants of other programs, as well as any other University employee or visitor. Stanford instructors will not allow participants to destroy material of any
  • Weapons: Weapons and ammunition of any kind are prohibited on campus by law, including knives, firearms, paintball guns, and other dangerous items, such as laser pointers.
  • Covid -19 Measures: Students shall follow the host school protocol regarding Covid-19 measures. If a student tests positive for covid at any time during the duration of the program, the student will not be able to attend classes until a negative PCR test is provided, unless this protocol is waived by the local authorities and host school.

If students are required to quarantine, course material will be provided by email to students that test positive and miss class.

      If an instructor tests positive for covid-19 during the program,  the program will continue online. If an instructor is unable to teach online or the online part of the program is required for more than 3 classes, Eduexplora may offer the option to students to take another Honors Academies course or Eduexplora program in the future.

      If an instructor is unable to travel or teach abroad during the set dates of the program, Eduexplora may replace the instructor with another one with similar background experience, change the program format to an online course, offer students to participate on an Eduexplora future program.

No refunds will be issued.

BEHAVIOR

  • Attendance: Participants are required to participate in each day of the Honors Academies session. Participants are expected to take part in all scheduled activities (classes, guest lectures, activities, meals, meetings, outings, etc.). Should a student be absent due to illness or other circumstances, they or their parent should notify the Honors Academies Site Director prior to the start of that day’s class.
  • Cell Phones, Laptops, and Tablets: Participants are allowed to have electronic devices such as cell phones, laptops, and tablets, but they should not use these devices during class time or at any other time that requires their attention to be directed toward program activities (both academic and recreational). The program encourages all participants to engage fully in activities and to socialize with others in the program; therefore, excessive use of electronic devices for social networking, emailing, talking on the phone or playing games is not allowed.
  • Dress: Participants are expected to dress in a manner that is appropriate for a learning environment and not disruptive to others. Participants are prohibited from wearing items that display offensive logos, symbols, or language, inappropriate sexual content, or slurs or symbols of hate, prejudice, intolerance or discrimination.

Public Displays of Affection: Participants are not allowed to publicly display affection in a way that makes other participants or staff members uncomfortable or imposes on their personalspace. 

CODE OF CONDUCT

Participants in the Honors Academies are expected to abide by the Code of Conduct, which states:

  • Participants are expected to adhere to the highest standards of good citizenship, honesty, and integrity in their academic work and in their personal conduct.
  • Participants are expected to show courtesy and respect for their fellow participants, host school personnel, and for Honors Academies support staff.
  • Participants are expected to use language in a manner that is appropriate for a healthy learning environment. Obscene, derogatory, and abusive language is prohibited.
  • Participants are expected to dress appropriately for an academic learning environment, and in a manner that reflects positively on themselves, instructors, and the Honors Academies hosting organization.
  • Participants shall not take part in or facilitate discrimination of any kind, including, but not limited to, discrimination based on gender, race, national origin, ethnicity, age, religion, sexual orientation, disability, handicap, or intelligence.
  • Participants are expected to show respect for and take reasonable care of host school property, including dining halls, classrooms, and other facilities, equipment and furnishings (for instance, course materials, computers, sports equipment, street signs, and other structures in outdoor areas).
  • Participants are expected to respect the belongings of their fellow participants. They shall not borrow, use, break or disturb items belonging to other participants or staff without clear prior permission. Participants also are expected to respect the belongings of the participants and staff of other programs at the Honors Academies.
  • Participants shall not use, possess, or distribute alcohol, drugs, or tobacco, with the exception of prescription and over-the-counter medications approved for use by the participant’s parent or guardian. Participation in an incident involving alcohol, drugs, or tobacco is cause for immediate dismissal, even if the participant did not consume or intend to consume these.
  • Participants are expected to be well behaved and follow the instructions of the onsite staff, instructional staff, and other host school personnel. Unruly behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Participants shall not commit acts of violence on persons or property, nor shall they threaten to commit any act of violence.
  • Any behavior that could expose others to a high likelihood of injury or endangerment is prohibited. This includes horseplay, excessively aggressive athletic competition, etc.
  • Participants shall not engage in any form of harassment, bullying, or hazing. Harassment consists of conduct of any type (including but not limited to cyber, written, verbal, graphic or physical conduct) which has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual’s academic or work performance, or which creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive learning, residential, or working environment.
  • Participants shall not engage in any form of sexual harassment. Sexual harassment includes sexual conduct, or conduct with sexual overtones, which has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual’s academic or work performance or which creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive learning, residential, or working environment.
  • Participants shall uphold high standards of academic integrity through honesty, trust, fairness, and responsibility. Participants are expected to demonstrate a spirit of cooperation and exploration within the academic guidelines provided by their instructors, and to meet the intellectual challenges of the program through honest effort and hard work.
  • Participants shall abide by all state, and local laws, and host school rules and regulations.
  • Participants are expected to know and to follow all rules listed in this Code of Conduct, those listed in the Rules for Participants, as well as the rules presented by the instructional staff during the program.

     

    Disciplinary Procedures

    By participating in the Honors Academies, the participant and his/her parent(s) or guardian(s) consent to cooperate in any investigation into a violation of the Rules for Participants or the Code of Conduct, if such an investigation arises. Consequences for violating the Rules for Participants or the Code of Conduct may include, but are not limited to, disciplinary actions such as requiring participants to write letters of apology or essays reflecting on the consequences of behavior; calls to parents or guardians; immediate dismissal from the program. Students dismissed from the program will not receive a certificate of completion.

    Probation Process

    An Honors Academies participant who repeatedly or seriously violates the Rules for Participants or the Code of Conduct – but not enough to warrant immediate dismissal – will be placed on probation for a specified amount of time during the program. Any decision to place a participant on probation requires the approval of the Honors Academies Site Director.

    Once a participant has been placed on probation, any further violation subjects the participant to immediate dismissal. Additional consequences may be assigned to the participant if deemed necessary. Once the decision to place a participant on probationary status has been made, both the participant, and parent(s) or guardian(s) will be notified and will receive a disciplinary letter from the Honors Academies Site Director.

    Dismissal and Release Process

    Eduexplora Honors Academies reserves the right to release a participant from the Honors Academies for disciplinary and non-disciplinary reasons if the program believes the participant’s participation in the program will cause harm to, interfere with, or disturb other participants, or if the program believes continued participation in the Honors Academies is not in the best interest of the participant or the program. If a participant is dismissed for disciplinary reasons, a tuition refund will not be granted.

    Any decision to dismiss or release a participant from the program requires the approval of the Honors Academies Site Director.

    Dismissal proceedings will include an interview with the participant and an investigation that includes interviews with people who are familiar with the situation. Once a decision has been reached regarding dismissal, a member of the Honors Academies Site Director will notify the participant and the participant’s parent(s) or guardians(s). In the event the participant’s parent(s) or guardians(s) are not available, the program will contact those on the participant’s emergency contact list.

    Participants who are dismissed must leave the Honors Academies within 4 hours of the time parent(s) or guardians(s) are notified; parent(s) or guardians(s) must make pickup arrangements accordingly.
