Engineering's Application and Impact in Today's World

This class, titled Engineering's Application and Impact in Today's World, will focus on understanding engineering through interactive activities and small group design projects. We will focus on mechanical, chemical, biomedical, and environmental engineering to learn how engineering can both improve and harm society. Most of the work required for this class will happen during our class time. By the end of the two weeks, students will have a basic comprehension of engineering and know how to apply the concepts to their everyday life.

PhD - Assistant Professor Biology Department Postdoctoral, School of Medicine at Stanford University

Julianne is a PhD (c) at Yale University in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering. Her main experience as an undergraduate researcher focused on electrically-conductive carbon-nanotube membranes. Since Julianne started her Ph.D. at Yale, she has continued studying membranes processes, now focusing on membrane distillation (MD) scaling. Julianne spent a year in Germany as a Fulbright Scholar. She was a guest researcher at the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries where she temporarily conducted research in Ecology.
