Critical Thinking Tools

Critical thinking and argumentation are skills that will make you stand out in school, college, and a competitive job market. You will sharpen these skills in this hands-on class through lively debates, role-playing, negotiations, and group work. To put them to the test, you will have your day in ‘court:’ you will become an attorney or witness in a mock trial, awaiting the judge’s verdict. We will look at the teachings of top legal, business and education experts, you will identify flaws in critical thinking, learn to analyze a complex set of facts, weigh evidence, anticipate the other side’s argument and deliver a better argument. You will work collaboratively, in an inclusive learning environment, supporting diverse viewpoints. While this engaging course is valuable for future attorneys, everybody will benefit from it. You will dive into human rights issues of global interest. You will develop a network of like-minded peers. And you will master making, evaluating, and communicating arguments, highly transferable skills in any profession you choose to pursue - and life.
