Course Description
This 2-week course will introduce the students to the basic tenets of neuroscience. Starting with a historical view of basic cellular science and ending with cutting-edge tools in brain research and treatment, the students will attend a combination of lectures and take part in virtual laboratory exercises that include behavioral analyses of behavioral experiments, brain mapping in silico, and neuron simulations. The course will encourage active learning and heavily rely on online group discussions and remote laboratory exercises.

PhD - Assistant Professor Biology Department Postdoctoral, School of Medicine at Stanford University

Dr. Maral Tajerian, PhD, is a neurophysiologist with particular interest in brain plasticity. Following the completion of her undergraduate degrees in Biology and Psychology at the American University of Beirut, Dr. Tajerian joined McGill University in Canada where she received a Master’s degree from the department of Biology and a PhD degree from the department of Neurology and Neurosurgery. She then completed a postdoctoral tenure at the School of Medicine at Stanford University, where she received the prestigious Ruth L. Kirschtein fellowship in pain research. She is currently appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Biology department at Queens College, City University of New York. You can read more about her research at https://www.tajerianlab.com
